The M.A. FORD. 20003900 is a solid carbide, straight-flute die drill bit engineered for precision holemaking in demanding materials. Built to Series 200 standards, it carries a wire size designation of #61 and a decimal diameter of 0.0390 inches. The 135-degree split point reduces thrust and improves self-centering at entry. A web-thinned geometry further lowers cutting resistance, making this bit suitable for tight-tolerance work in die and mold applications. It ships uncoated and is manufactured to DIN standards. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die makers, and precision fabricators are the primary users of this type of bit.
This drill bit is intended for holemaking in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, steel, alloy steel, austenitic stainless steel, hardened materials, high-temperature alloys, titanium, ceramic, and glass. Its small diameter and solid carbide construction make it well suited for precision die work, instrument machining, and other applications where tight diameter tolerances and material hardness demand a carbide substrate over high-speed steel. The right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional drill press and CNC spindle setups.
Designed as a direct-use die drill for holemaking operations requiring a #61 wire size (0.0390 inches) straight-flute carbide bit. Compatible workpiece materials per manufacturer data include cast iron, non-ferrous metal, stainless steel, steel, alloy steel, austenitic stainless steel, hardened materials, high-temperature alloys, titanium, ceramic, and glass.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tool-and-die professionals familiar with carbide tooling. Secure the shank fully in the collet or chuck before operation, and verify spindle runout is within acceptable limits, as carbide is brittle and sensitive to side loading at this diameter. Do not use in handheld drill applications. Follow applicable shop safety standards and machine guarding requirements when operating at the speeds appropriate for carbide tooling in the target workpiece material.
