The M.A. FORD. 18062512B is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for finishing operations in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. It carries a 5/8 inch mill diameter, a 0.015 inch corner radius, and 7 flutes arranged in a right-hand spiral with a medium helix angle. The cutting edges are treated with an ALtima Blaze PVD coating, which is designed to extend tool life in demanding, high-temperature alloy cutting applications. At 3.5 inches overall length with a 1.25 inch length of cut, this is a short-series tool suited to rigid setups where minimizing overhang is a priority. Installation is handled by machinists and CNC operators working with standard toolholders.
This end mill is intended for finishing passes on ferrous and high-strength alloy workpiece materials, including steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The super-close pitch flute configuration and single-end design make it well matched to finish-profiling and light-contouring operations where surface finish consistency and tight dimensional control are required. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard collet chucks and shrink-fit toolholders sized for 5/8 inch shank diameter. It is not center-cutting and does not support plunge entry.
Designed for use with standard toolholders accepting a 5/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece material compatibility includes steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium as specified by the manufacturer for Series 180.
Installation and setup should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with CNC milling operations and toolholder torque procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the controller is in a safe state before inserting or removing the tool from the toolholder. Confirm runout with a dial indicator after clamping, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on close-pitch carbide end mills. This tool is not center-cutting and must not be used for direct plunge entry.
