The M.A. FORD. 18050004B is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance finishing operations in demanding materials including steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. It features a 1/2 inch mill diameter, a 0.03 inch corner radius, and 7 flutes arranged in a super close pitch configuration with a 38-degree helix angle. The ALtima Blaze PVD coating improves wear resistance and heat management during aggressive finishing cuts. The single-end design pairs with a straight-cylindrical 1/2 inch shank for use in standard toolholders. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, aerospace, and precision manufacturing environments are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is suited for finishing passes on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces. The stub-length flute geometry and 5/8 inch length of cut make it appropriate for shallow-depth finishing profiles where rigidity and tight tolerances are required. The right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting direction are compatible with conventional vertical and horizontal CNC machining center setups. It is a Series 180 tool from M.A. FORD. intended for precision finishing rather than roughing or high-material-removal applications.
Designed for use with standard straight-cylindrical toolholders accepting a 1/2 inch shank diameter. Intended for CNC machining centers performing finishing operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces. Part of the M.A. FORD. Series 180 product line.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank in a compatible toolholder to the holder manufacturer's specified clamping procedure. This tool is not centercutting and should not be used for plunge entry. Verify runout after installation to maintain the tight diameter tolerances specified for this tool.
