The M.A. FORD 18037512B is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for finishing operations in demanding materials including steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The tool carries a 3/8 inch mill diameter with a 0.015 inch corner radius, 7 flutes in a super close pitch configuration, and a 38-degree medium helix spiral flute geometry. It is coated with M.A. FORD ALtima Blaze, a PVD-applied coating designed to extend tool life in high-temperature cutting environments. The overall length is 2.5 inches with a 1 inch length of cut. This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers by professional machinists and toolroom operators working in metalworking, aerospace, and precision manufacturing applications.
This tool is suited for finishing passes in steel and stainless steel components, as well as superalloys and titanium alloys where edge integrity and tight tolerances are critical. With a right-hand cutting direction, right-hand flute spiral, and straight-cylindrical shank, it mounts directly into a standard toolholder without adapters. The non-centercutting, single-end design focuses performance on peripheral and side-wall finishing rather than plunge operations. The Series 180 designation identifies it within M.A. FORD corner radius end mill product line. Typical applications include contouring, profiling, and finish milling where the 0.015 inch corner radius reduces stress concentration and improves surface finish on machined edges.
Designed for use with standard CNC toolholders accepting a 3/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium (material codes P, M, S).
Installation and tool changes must be performed by qualified machine operators with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a safe, locked-out state. Confirm toolholder runout is within acceptable limits before engaging a finish cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on multi-flute tools. Do not use this end mill for plunge cutting, as it is a non-centercutting design. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and cutting tool manufacturer guidelines for speeds and feeds appropriate to the workpiece material and depth of cut.
