The M.A. FORD. 17825012A is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling in demanding material applications. It features a 1/4 inch diameter, a 0.015 inch corner radius, and five flutes with a right-hand spiral cut in a close pitch configuration. The cutting geometry supports both roughing and finishing passes in a single tool. An AlTiN (ALtima) PVD coating provides thermal resistance and surface hardness for extended tool life in abrasive and high-temperature cutting environments. The 38-degree medium helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. This end mill is installed and operated by machinists and tooling professionals on CNC milling equipment.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. The centercutting design allows plunge entry as well as conventional peripheral milling, making it versatile for pocketing, slotting, and profile work. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard toolholders. With a 5/8 inch length of cut and 2.5 inch overall length, it is configured for long-reach applications while maintaining rigidity. It belongs to M.A. FORD. Series 178 and is sized for work requiring tight corner radius control on hard and exotic workpiece materials.
Designed for use with standard straight-cylindrical toolholders accepting a 1/4 inch shank diameter. Part of M.A. FORD. Series 178 corner radius end mills.
Installation is performed by machinists using a compatible toolholder on a CNC or manual milling machine. Ensure the machine spindle and toolholder are clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Verify runout with a dial indicator before commencing cuts, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on carbide tooling. Do not exceed the rated length of cut when side milling to avoid deflection or tool breakage.
