The M.A. FORD. 17750018A is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance metal removal in demanding machining applications. Built to Series 177 specifications, it features a 1/2 inch diameter, a 1/8 inch corner radius, and four flutes with a variable helix angle ranging from 35 to 38 degrees. The variable helix geometry reduces harmonic chatter and improves surface finish across a range of cutting conditions. An AlTiN (ALtima PVD) coating adds heat and wear resistance, making this tool well suited for high-speed and dry-cutting operations. Licensed machinists and toolroom technicians select this end mill for both roughing and finishing passes.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills where steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium are the primary workpiece materials. The single-end, centercutting design allows plunge entry as well as conventional peripheral and slot milling. With a 1 inch length of cut, 3 inch overall length, and a straight cylindrical 1/2 inch shank, it fits standard collet chucks and toolholders sized for 1/2 inch shanks. The short flute length style keeps the tool rigid in medium-depth applications.
Designed for use with standard 1/2 inch straight-bore collet chucks and toolholders. Primary workpiece material compatibility includes steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), superalloys, and titanium (S) as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and the control in a safe state. Secure the shank to the full recommended engagement depth in a clean, undamaged collet or toolholder bore before tightening. Verify runout at the tool tip before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear and shortens tool life. This tooling should be handled and set up by qualified machinists familiar with applicable shop safety standards and machine tool operating procedures.
