The M.A. FORD. 17737514A is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding materials. With a 3/8-inch cutting diameter and a 0.03-inch corner radius, it delivers controlled edge geometry that reduces stress concentration and extends tool life in roughing and finishing operations. The 4-flute, variable helix design improves chip evacuation and reduces chatter across a range of cut depths. An ALTiN (ALtima) PVD coating provides thermal and oxidation resistance, making this end mill effective in dry or semi-dry cutting environments. Installed in compatible straight-shank toolholders, this tool fits standard CNC machining center setups used by tool-and-die, aerospace, and precision machining shops.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium — workpiece material codes P, M, K, and S. The short flute length and 7/8-inch length of cut (LOC) keep the tool rigid in applications where deflection control is critical. It is centercutting, allowing plunge entry when required. Typical applications include profile milling, slotting, and contour finishing on ferrous and exotic alloys in both production and job-shop environments. The straight-cylindrical shank seats in standard collet chucks, shrink-fit holders, and hydraulic chucks without modification.
Designed for use with standard straight-shank toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch shank diameter. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium (material codes P, M, K, S). Part of M.A. FORD. Series 177.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before inserting or removing the tool from the holder. Verify runout with a dial indicator after seating — excessive runout will accelerate edge wear and reduce corner radius accuracy. Do not exceed the toolholder's published clamping torque specifications for the holder type in use.
