The M.A. FORD. 17737512A is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining environments. It features a 3/8 inch diameter, a 0.015 inch corner radius, and four flutes with a variable helix geometry that reduces chatter and improves surface finish. The AlTiN (ALtima) PVD coating provides heat resistance and extended tool life when cutting hard or abrasive workpiece materials. At 2.5 inches overall length with a 7/8 inch length of cut, this is a short-series, single-end, centercutting tool suitable for both roughing and finishing operations. It is installed in CNC machining centers and milling machines by machinists and tooling specialists.
This end mill is engineered for use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium applications. The variable helix design reduces harmonic vibration during aggressive cuts, making it effective in difficult-to-machine materials where tool deflection and heat buildup are primary concerns. The straight cylindrical shank mounts directly into standard toolholders without modification. It is well suited for general mold work, die machining, aerospace component manufacturing, and precision part production where a controlled corner radius is required to reduce stress concentrations in the finished workpiece.

Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician using a compatible toolholder and appropriate tightening hardware per the machine tool manufacturer guidelines. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is placed in an e-stop or lockout state before changing tooling. Verify shank seating depth and runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut. Consult the machine tool and toolholder manufacturer specifications for proper clamping torque and pull-out force ratings.
