The M.A. FORD. 17731505A is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling across a broad range of workpiece materials. Built on the Series 177 platform, it features a 2 mm corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at the cutting edge and improves surface finish on profiling passes. The 4-flute, variable helix geometry promotes chip evacuation and helps suppress chatter during both roughing and finishing operations. An ALtima AlTiN PVD coating adds thermal resistance and extends tool life in demanding cuts. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, aerospace, and general manufacturing environments are the primary users of this tooling.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. The short flute length-to-diameter ratio supports rigid setups, making it a practical choice for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling where edge stability is critical. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly in standard collets or end mill holders, and the centercutting geometry allows plunge entry where required. It is a single-end tool rated for both roughing and finishing material removal strategies.
Designed for use with standard toolholders accepting an 8 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium (material codes P, M, K, S).
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Secure the shank in a collet or end mill holder to the full recommended engagement depth and verify runout before cutting. Confirm spindle direction is set to right-hand rotation before engaging the workpiece. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and tooling manufacturer feed-and-speed recommendations for the specific workpiece material and depth of cut; do not exceed the rated shank diameter tolerance range during toolholder selection.
