The M.A. FORD 17713700A is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for high-performance milling in demanding applications. With a 0.1378-inch (3.50 mm) mill diameter and a 0.2756-inch (7.00 mm) length of cut, this end mill delivers precise material removal in tight-tolerance environments. The ALtima finish coating, variable helix design at 35/38 degrees, and helical flute geometry work together to reduce chatter, improve chip evacuation, and extend tool life. It is center-cutting and runs with a right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals specify this tool for production and prototype work alike.
This end mill is suited for milling operations across a broad range of workpiece materials, including steel, cast iron, stainless steel, high-temperature alloys, and non-ferrous metals, as indicated by primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, P, and S. The straight-cylindrical shank with a 6.00 mm (approximately 0.236 inch) diameter fits standard collet and end mill holder systems. Typical applications include slotting, profiling, and contouring in CNC machining centers and manual mills working with small-diameter features and fine details.
Designed for use with standard straight-cylindrical collet systems accepting a 6.00 mm shank; suitable for CNC machining centers and manual mills running workpiece materials corresponding to material codes H, K, M, P, and S, including steels, cast iron, stainless, high-temperature alloys, and non-ferrous metals. Part of the M.A. FORD Series 177 end mill family.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified machinists with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per facility safety procedures. Verify collet size matches the 6.00 mm shank diameter before clamping, and torque the collet nut to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the tool for chips or coating damage before each use, and confirm correct runout with a dial indicator after installation to protect the tight diameter tolerance.
