The M.A. FORD. 16909370R.020 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling in demanding shop environments. It features a 0.0937-inch mill diameter, a 0.02-inch corner radius, and three right-hand spiral flutes with a medium helix for balanced chip evacuation and surface finish. The bright uncoated carbide construction suits a wide range of workpiece materials and keeps regrinding straightforward. At 1.5 inches overall length with a 3/16-inch length of cut, this is a short-series tool intended for rigidity in tight setups. It is a single-end, center-cutting design, meaning it can plunge as well as profile. Licensed machinists and CNC setup technicians are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is built for both roughing and finishing operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Its short flute length and solid carbide substrate make it well suited for high-speed CNC milling centers and manual knee mills where chatter control and dimensional accuracy are priorities. The 0.02-inch corner radius helps reduce stress concentration at the cutting edge, extending tool life on abrasive or work-hardening materials. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard collet-style toolholders.
Designed for use with collet-style toolholders accepting a 1/8-inch straight cylindrical shank. Compatible with CNC machining centers and manual milling machines equipped with appropriate high-speed or carbide-rated toolholding. Part of M.A. FORD. Series 169.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a safe, locked-out state. Seat the 1/8-inch shank fully into a clean, undamaged collet and torque the toolholder to the manufacturer specification for that holder. Inspect the corner radius and cutting edges for chips before each use, as carbide is brittle and sensitive to side-loading or interrupted cuts at improper feed rates. Follow the tool manufacturer feed-and-speed recommendations for the specific workpiece material being machined.
