The M.A. FORD 16309370A is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in a wide range of material types. Built on the Series 163 stub-length platform, it features a 0.0937 inch (3/32 inch) mill diameter, a 0.1875 inch length of cut, and a 0.125 inch straight-cylindrical shank. The 30-degree spiral flute helix geometry and ALtima coating work together to improve chip evacuation and extend tool life in demanding cutting applications. With 4 flutes and a right-hand cut and flute direction, this end mill is suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes where tight tolerances and surface finish matter. Micrograin carbide substrate provides hardness and wear resistance appropriate for production environments.
This end mill is rated for use across multiple workpiece material categories, including hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, long-chipping steels, and high-temperature alloys as indicated by material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. The stub length and 1.5 inch overall length make it well-suited for CNC machining centers and manual mills where rigidity and minimal deflection are priorities. Center-cutting capability allows plunge entry where required. It is typically installed in toolholders by machinists and CNC setup technicians in job shop, production, and toolroom environments.
Designed for use across material categories H, K, M, N, P, and S per M.A. FORD Series 163 classification, covering hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, general steels, and high-temperature alloys. Fits standard 1/8 inch straight-bore toolholders and collets.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or spindle lock is engaged before installing or removing the end mill. Use a calibrated torque wrench and appropriate collet or end mill holder sized for 0.125 inch shank diameter. Verify runout with a dial indicator after mounting to confirm the tool seats within acceptable tolerance before beginning a cut.
