The M.A. FORD 16303900 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding machining environments. With a 0.0390-inch cutting diameter and a 0.078-inch length of cut, this is a stub-length tool built for rigidity and accuracy in tight workspaces. The 4-flute, right-hand spiral design with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. Manufactured from micrograin solid carbide in a bright, uncoated finish, it maintains sharp edges across a wide range of workpiece materials. A 0.125-inch straight-cylindrical shank and 1.5-inch overall length make it compatible with standard collet and end mill holder setups on CNC and manual milling equipment.
This end mill is suited for finish milling, slotting, and profiling operations at small feature scales. The Series 163 designation covers a range of small-diameter carbide tools intended for precision work in materials classified under workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S, which include hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, steel alloys, and high-temperature alloys. It is appropriate for use in tool rooms, production shops, and precision manufacturing environments where small-diameter accuracy is critical. A licensed machinist or CNC operator typically installs and runs this tool.
Compatible with workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S as designated by the manufacturer, covering hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, steel alloys, and high-temperature alloys. Designed for use with standard 0.125-inch (1/8-inch) collets and end mill holders on CNC machining centers and manual mills.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Secure the 0.125-inch shank fully in a collet or end mill holder to the recommended engagement depth before tightening. Confirm tool runout with a dial indicator before commencing cuts, as runout is especially critical at this diameter. Never exceed the manufacturer-recommended feed and speed parameters for the material being machined, and inspect the cutting edges for chipping or wear between operations.
