The M.A. FORD. 13850000R.005 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill built for precision material removal in non-ferrous metal applications. It carries a 1/2 inch cutting diameter with a 0.005 inch corner radius that protects the cutting edge and reduces chipping at the tool tip. The 3-flute, right-hand spiral geometry supports both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool. At 3 inches overall length with a 5/8 inch length of cut, this is a stub-length configuration suited for rigid setups where minimizing deflection is critical. Licensed machinists and toolroom operators use this end mill in CNC machining centers and manual mills with compatible straight-cylindrical toolholders.
This end mill is designed for cutting non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, copper, and brass. The bright uncoated finish is well matched to these materials, where coatings that retain heat can cause built-up edge. The centercutting design allows plunge entry, giving operators flexibility for slot milling, pocket milling, and contour operations. The stub-length format reduces stick-out and improves surface finish quality in close-tolerance work. Normal pitch and medium helix angle provide a balance of chip evacuation and cutting stability for general-purpose non-ferrous applications.
Designed for use with standard straight-cylindrical toolholders. Per manufacturer data, this end mill is rated for non-ferrous metal workpiece materials and belongs to M.A. FORD. Series 138.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer torque and runout specifications. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Confirm shank seating depth and runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut. Consult the machine tool manual and applicable shop safety standards for proper tool change procedures.
