The M.A. FORD 13837507 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precise milling operations in non-ferrous metals and similar materials. With a 3/8 inch cutting diameter, a 1-1/2 inch length of cut, and a 3-1/2 inch overall length, this tool falls into the extra-long category, giving machinists the reach needed for deeper pockets and profiling passes. It runs three flutes in a right-hand spiral configuration at a 36-degree helix angle, optimizing chip evacuation and surface finish. The centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole. Solid carbide construction provides the rigidity and wear resistance required for consistent dimensional accuracy in production or job-shop environments.
This end mill is suited for milling aluminum, brass, copper, plastics, and other non-ferrous workpiece materials where a sharp, uncoated carbide edge performs reliably. The extra-long length of cut makes it practical for deep-slot milling, side milling, and profiling applications where standard-length tools cannot reach. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard collet chucks and milling tool holders sized for 3/8 inch shanks. It is used in vertical and horizontal CNC machining centers as well as manual knee mills by machinists and toolroom technicians.
Designed for use with standard 3/8 inch collet chucks and milling tool holders; part of the M.A. FORD Series 138 extra-long square end mill line intended for non-ferrous metal machining applications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's recommended tooling and runout specifications. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before loading or changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or tool holder and torque the retention hardware according to the holder manufacturer's guidelines. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut to protect both the tool and the workpiece.
