The M.A. FORD. 13831200 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision material removal in machining operations. Built to Series 138 specifications, it features a 0.3125 inch (5/16 inch) cutting diameter, a 0.3125 inch length of cut, and a 2.5 inch overall length in a stub-length configuration. The 36-degree spiral helix and three-flute geometry promote efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. Micrograin carbide construction provides the hardness and wear resistance needed for consistent performance in demanding cutting environments. This end mill ships in a bright, uncoated finish and is center-cutting capable.
This end mill is suited for milling non-ferrous metals, the primary workpiece material class for this tool. The stub-length profile makes it well suited to applications requiring maximum rigidity, such as shallow pocketing, slotting, and profiling passes where tool deflection must be minimized. It accepts a standard straight-cylindrical shank and fits conventional end mill holders and collet chucks used on vertical machining centers and CNC milling machines. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working with aluminum, brass, copper, and similar non-ferrous stock will find this tool appropriate for their production and job-shop applications.
Designed as a Series 138 stub-length square end mill for use with standard straight-cylindrical shank end mill holders and collet chucks rated for 0.3125 inch (5/16 inch) shank diameter; primary workpiece material class is non-ferrous metal.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing or seating the tool in the holder. Verify collet or end mill holder bore is clean and free of chips before inserting the shank; shank diameter tolerance is h6. Confirm runout and tool projection before beginning a cut, and follow applicable shop safety procedures for rotating cutting tools.
