The M.A. FORD 13818752 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in non-ferrous metals and similar materials. Built from micrograin carbide with a bright uncoated finish, it runs a 3-flute, right-hand spiral configuration with a 36-degree helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. The stub-length geometry keeps the tool rigid, reducing deflection during aggressive cuts. The 0.1875-inch diameter and 0.5-inch length of cut make it well suited for detail work, slotting, and profiling in tight spaces. It is centercutting, so plunge milling is possible without a pre-drilled pilot hole. Machinists and toolroom operators are the primary installers and users.
This end mill is intended for use on CNC machining centers, knee mills, and manual milling machines handling non-ferrous workpiece materials such as aluminum, brass, copper, and similar alloys. The stub overall length of 2 inches and straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance provide secure tool-holder engagement with minimal runout. Series 138 from M.A. FORD is positioned for general-purpose non-ferrous milling where a balance of tool life and cut quality is required.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide end mill for use in standard 3/16-inch collets, end mill holders, and shrink-fit holders on CNC and manual milling machines. Primary workpiece material code N indicates non-ferrous metals.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified machinists following the machine tool manufacturer guidelines. Power down and lock out the spindle before inserting or removing the end mill from the holder. Ensure the shank is fully seated and the holder is torqued to the machine manufacturer specification before resuming operation. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping before each use and replace the tool at the first sign of wear to maintain dimensional accuracy.
