The M.A. FORD. 12225000 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision metal removal in CNC and manual milling operations. It features a 1/4 inch cutting diameter, a 1-1/4 inch length of cut, and a 3 inch overall length, classifying it as an extra-long configuration within the Series 122 lineup. The four-flute spiral design provides a balance of chip evacuation and surface finish quality. Micrograin carbide construction delivers hardness and wear resistance suited to demanding cutting environments. The uncoated finish makes this end mill well suited for applications where re-coating or specific surface treatments will be applied after purchase.
This end mill is appropriate for use in ferrous and non-ferrous materials, including steels, cast irons, stainless alloys, titanium alloys, aluminum, and non-metallic composites, as indicated by workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. It is centercutting, allowing direct plunge entry without a pilot hole. The straight-cylindrical shank provides secure clamping in standard collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit tooling systems commonly used in production and job-shop environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitment for 1/4 inch straight-shank toolholders used in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills requiring a four-flute square end mill in the Series 122 configuration.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder to the recommended engagement depth per the toolholder manufacturer's guidelines, and verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut. Do not exceed the end mill manufacturer's recommended depth-of-cut or feed rate for the workpiece material.
