The M.A. FORD. 12162503 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision material removal in demanding machining applications. Built to Series 121 specifications, it features a 5/8-inch cutting diameter with a 0.03-inch corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge and extends tool life in high-load cuts. The 2-flute, right-hand spiral geometry with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry without a pre-drilled hole. The bright uncoated finish suits applications where coating interaction with the workpiece material is a concern. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers in job shop and production environments.
This end mill is rated for use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Its coarse pitch, micrograin carbide construction, and regular-length flute geometry make it well suited for roughing passes in vertical machining centers and manual mills. The straight cylindrical shank mounts directly into standard collet chucks or end mill holders. With a 1-1/4-inch length of cut and 3-1/2-inch overall length, it fits common reach requirements in block and cavity work without requiring extended-reach tooling.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders and collet chuck systems accepting a 5/8-inch straight cylindrical shank. Rated for steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials per M.A. FORD. Series 121 application guidelines.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before inserting or removing the tool. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder and torque the retention mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on carbide tooling.
