The M.A. FORD. 12137500 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining environments. Built on the Series 121 platform, it features a 3/8 inch diameter with a 1 inch length of cut, a 2-1/2 inch overall length, and a straight cylindrical 3/8 inch shank. The two-flute, right-hand spiral design promotes efficient chip evacuation, while the micrograin carbide substrate delivers the hardness and wear resistance needed for demanding cuts. The uncoated finish makes this tool well-suited for applications where coating compatibility or re-sharpening is a priority. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in job shops or production environments are the primary installers.
This end mill is rated for use across a broad range of workpiece materials, including material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S — covering hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, carbon steels, and high-temperature alloys. The centercutting geometry enables both peripheral and plunge milling. The 30-degree helix angle balances cutting force and surface finish across these material types. Typical applications include slotting, profiling, and pocket milling on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills. The regular-length body keeps deflection low for standard-depth cuts.
Rated for workpiece material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer. Designed for use in standard 3/8 inch collets and tool holders on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines. Part of the M.A. FORD. Series 121 regular-length end mill family.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with CNC or manual milling equipment. Ensure the machine spindle and tool holder are clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Verify collet or chuck runout is within acceptable limits prior to operation, as excessive runout accelerates tool wear and degrades surface finish. Always follow applicable machine guarding and PPE requirements when operating rotating cutting tools.
