Installation Notes

R8 collets are installed and removed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the drawbar must be backed off the correct number of turns before seating or releasing the collet - do not strike the drawbar aggressively or allow the collet to free-fall from the spindle. Use the appropriate collet wrench and drawbar wrench for your machine; do not overtighten the drawbar beyond the manufacturer-recommended feel, as this can distort the collet bore and shorten service life. Inspect collet bores and tapers for chips or damage before each use.
