The LUTRON MA-L3T251-IV is a single-pole, dual-function wall control that combines a dimmer and a countdown timer into one device. The upper section operates as an incandescent and halogen dimmer rated at 300 watts and 120 volts, featuring a delayed fade-to-off function that gradually reduces light output after the control is switched off. The lower section is a timer switch rated at 2.5 amps for general-purpose fan loads, 300 watts for incandescent, halogen, and ELV sources, or 250 watts for magnetic low-voltage loads. Softly lit side indicators display preset level and serve as a locator in dark conditions. This device is installed by licensed electricians in residential settings and ships with a wallplate included in an ivory finish.
The MA-L3T251-IV is well suited for bathroom applications where the dimmer controls vanity lighting and the timer controls an exhaust fan. Setting the timer to run the exhaust fan for a defined period after a shower reduces moisture buildup and limits conditions that encourage mold and mildew growth. The timer adjusts from 5 to 60 minutes in preset increments. A top green LED labeled ON allows unlimited-duration operation, while the bottom LED blinks rapidly during the final minute of countdown. The control is single-pole and replaces a standard single-gang wall switch or dimmer without requiring a neutral wire in most configurations.
Designed for single-pole installations controlling incandescent and halogen lamp loads up to 300 watts, ELV loads up to 300 watts, magnetic low-voltage loads up to 250 watts, and general-purpose fan motors up to 2.5 amps at 120 volts. Compatible with Lutron Claro wallplates for consistent color matching, sold separately.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in compliance with the National Electrical Code and all applicable local codes. Turn off the branch circuit breaker and verify the absence of voltage with a non-contact tester before removing the existing device. This control is single-pole and requires a hot, load, and ground connection; confirm wiring configuration before installation. Do not install on circuits with incompatible load types such as LED or CFL sources unless explicitly rated for those loads.
