The LUTRON DVRF is an in-wall electronic smart switch designed for Caseta smart lighting systems. It operates on 120 volts and supports single-pole and multi-location 3-way configurations, making it suitable for a wide range of residential lighting control installations. The paddle-style actuator matches the familiar Claro switch form factor and includes an LED indicator light. Rated at 5.0 amps for most loads and 3.0 amps for specific applications, the DVRF mounts in a standard wallbox using wire leads. Licensed electricians and skilled DIYers install this switch as part of the Lutron Caseta ecosystem, which communicates over a dedicated wireless protocol rather than Wi-Fi.
The DVRF is intended for residential lighting control applications where an existing Claro switch lineup is already installed or where a new smart 3-way circuit is being built. It can replace a standard single-pole switch or serve as the primary leg of a multi-location 3-way setup. A Pico remote and bracket (sold separately) can be paired to create a wireless 3-way without running additional wire. Integration with voice assistants and smart home platforms is available when used with a compatible Caseta smart hub (sold separately). Operating temperature range is 32 to 104 degrees F, making it appropriate for conditioned interior spaces.
Designed for use within the Lutron Caseta smart lighting system. Compatible with Caseta smart hub for integration with Alexa, Apple Home, Google Assistant, Ring, and Sonos. Pairs with Lutron Pico remotes and mounting brackets (sold separately) for wireless 3-way configurations.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician or a qualified individual familiar with local electrical codes, including applicable NEC requirements. Turn off the circuit breaker and verify the circuit is de-energized with a non-contact voltage tester before beginning any wiring work. This switch uses wire leads and mounts in a standard wallbox — confirm box depth and fill capacity before installation. Do not install in outdoor, wet, or unprotected locations outside the rated operating temperature range.
