The LOCTITE 1835925 is a high-strength, green liquid retaining compound supplied in a 250 mL bottle as part of the Series 638 product line. Retaining compounds are anaerobic adhesives designed to secure cylindrical assemblies — such as bearings, bushings, and sleeves pressed into housings or onto shafts — by filling microscopic gaps between mating metal surfaces. Once cured, the compound resists loosening caused by vibration, shock, and thermal cycling. With a maximum service temperature of 300 degrees F and a fixture time of approximately 5 minutes, this formulation is suited for production and field repair environments where fast handling strength is needed before full cure.
Series 638 retaining compounds are used across a wide range of industrial, HVAC, and mechanical maintenance applications. Typical uses include securing fan hub assemblies, motor bearing retentions, pump impeller fits, and other close-tolerance cylindrical joints that require a rigid, leak-resistant bond. The product is applied in liquid form, wicking into the joint by capillary action, making it practical for both new assembly and service repairs where complete disassembly is not feasible.
Designed for use on close-tolerance cylindrical metal assemblies including bearing-to-housing and shaft-to-hub fits typical in HVAC, industrial, and mechanical maintenance applications.
Application should be performed by a qualified technician familiar with anaerobic adhesives and the assembly being serviced. Clean and degrease all mating surfaces thoroughly before applying the compound, as contamination will inhibit cure. Allow adequate fixture time before applying load to the assembly, and ensure full cure before returning the unit to service. Consult the manufacturer technical data sheet for surface preparation requirements and cure schedule under specific temperature and gap conditions.
