The LINCOLN ELECTRIC KH791 is a flat-tip soapstone marker used for layout and marking on metal, pipe, and weld joints before cutting or fabrication. Soapstone marks remain visible through heat and oil, making it a reliable choice for marking workpieces prior to welding, cutting, or grinding operations. The flat tip provides a consistent, broad line suited for scribing layout lines on steel plate, structural steel, and pipe. Sold individually, the KH791 is a standard consumable for welding shops, pipe fitters, and fabricators who need a dependable marking tool that holds up in demanding shop environments.
This soapstone marker is suited for use in welding and metal fabrication settings, including structural steel shops, pipe fabrication, and field welding applications. It is commonly used by welders, pipefitters, ironworkers, and boilermakers to mark cut lines, weld start and stop points, and layout reference lines directly on metal surfaces. The flat tip allows the user to produce both narrow and wider lines depending on the angle of use, giving flexibility across different marking tasks on plate and pipe.
Designed as a standard flat-tip soapstone marker for use with compatible soapstone marker holders commonly found in welding and metal fabrication applications.
No installation is required for this consumable marking tool. Store soapstone markers in a dry location to prevent moisture absorption, which can cause the stick to crumble during use. When inserting into a soapstone holder, secure the stick firmly before applying pressure to avoid breakage. Replace when the stick becomes too short for safe use in a holder.
