The LEVITON TELCOM L8712 is a silk guy splice rod with a single-wrap offset eye configuration, used in telecom and utility line hardware applications. Guy splice rods are installed on messenger wires and guy strands to provide a secure termination point or mid-span splice. The offset eye design allows for attachment to anchors, turnbuckles, or other hardware fittings where a standard inline eye would not align properly. This type of hardware is typically installed by telecom line workers, utility technicians, and outside plant contractors during aerial cable installations.
The L8712 is suited for outside plant aerial infrastructure work, including telephone, cable TV, and fiber optic messenger strand applications. It is sold individually and is appropriate for single-wrap installations on standard guy strand. The offset eye allows for correct angular alignment when connecting to pole hardware or anchor fittings in residential and commercial aerial plant construction.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard hardware fitting for aerial outside plant guy strand termination and splice applications.
Installation should be performed by qualified outside plant or utility line technicians following applicable NESC and local utility standards. De-energize or isolate any associated conductors before working on aerial hardware. Ensure the guy strand diameter is compatible with the rod wrap specification before installation. Inspect the offset eye orientation before finalizing the connection to the anchor or deadend hardware to confirm proper load alignment.
