The LEVITON TELCOM 16252-1PT is a Decora-style split receptacle with single-plug control, designed for residential and light commercial electrical installations. A split receptacle allows one outlet to be switched independently while the other remains always hot, giving installers the flexibility to put a single plug-in device on a wall switch without running a dedicated circuit. This configuration is common in living rooms, bedrooms, and office spaces where a lamp or small appliance needs switch control. It is installed by licensed electricians as part of standard 15-amp or 20-amp branch circuit work.
This receptacle is suited for new construction and retrofit projects where switched outlet control is specified. The Decora form factor fits standard Decora and Decora-compatible wallplates, making it a practical match for installations where the rest of the devices on the wall are rocker-style switches or GFCI outlets. It ships as a single unit and is categorized as a hardware accessory component for electrical rough-in and finish work.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation receptacle for standard residential and light commercial electrical boxes requiring a split Decora receptacle with single-plug switched control.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with applicable NEC requirements. Turn off the branch circuit breaker and verify the circuit is de-energized with a non-contact voltage tester before wiring. The split-tab on the hot side must be broken to isolate the switched outlet from the always-hot outlet. Do not exceed the amperage rating of the circuit or the device when selecting wire gauge and breaker size.
