The LEGEND VALVE 105-501 is a bronze Y-strainer designed for inline filtration of liquids and steam in plumbing and piping systems. It features female national pipe taper (FNPT) end connections sized at 0.25 inches and a 20-mesh strainer screen that captures debris and particulates before they reach downstream components such as valves, traps, and meters. Rated at 300 psi WOG (water, oil, gas) and 150 psi WSP (working steam pressure), this strainer handles demanding service conditions. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in residential and light commercial piping systems where inline straining is required.
The 105-501 is suited for small-diameter piping runs in water supply, steam, compressed air, oil, and gas service. Its compact Y-body design allows installation in horizontal or vertical piping with minimal pressure drop across the strainer element. The FNPT threaded ends comply with ANSI and ASME B1.20.1 standards, making it compatible with standard NPT-threaded pipe and fittings commonly found in domestic and light commercial installations. Typical applications include protection of control valves, flow meters, and solenoid valves in quarter-inch pipe runs.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation Y-strainer for standard 0.25 inch NPT-threaded piping systems in plumbing, HVAC, and light industrial applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off and depressurize the piping system fully before installation or servicing the strainer screen. The strainer body should be oriented with the screen leg accessible for periodic cleaning and blowdown. Use thread sealant or PTFE tape on all NPT connections and torque fittings to hand-tight plus a standard number of turns per pipe size as directed by local code.
