The LDI INDUSTRIES G655-3 is a vented oil-level sight gauge with union coupling, designed to provide a clear visual indication of oil level in industrial and mechanical equipment reservoirs. The unit features a 2.75-inch sight length and a 0.375-inch thread size for straightforward installation into standard threaded ports. The Buna-N seal material offers reliable resistance to petroleum-based oils, making this gauge well suited to sustained use in lubrication and oil-bath applications. The union coupling design simplifies removal and reinstallation without disturbing adjacent fittings. This gauge is typically installed by millwrights, industrial mechanics, or HVAC technicians servicing compressors and oil-reservoir equipment.
The G655-3 is used in applications where direct visual monitoring of oil level is required without relying on electronic sensors. Common installation scenarios include gear reducers, compressor crankcases, pump housings, and other oil-bath reservoirs found in light industrial and commercial HVAC or mechanical systems. The vented design prevents vacuum lock that could cause false level readings. The center of the base sits at 3.875 inches from the reference face, which aids in planning reservoir port placement during assembly or replacement work.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit sight gauge for oil reservoirs and crankcases equipped with 0.375-inch threaded ports requiring a union coupling vented sight glass.
Installation should be performed by a qualified mechanic or technician. Drain and de-pressurize the reservoir completely before removing the existing gauge or fitting. Use appropriate thread sealant compatible with petroleum-based oils and do not overtighten, as the Buna-N seal requires only moderate torque to form a proper seal. Verify the reservoir is at atmospheric pressure before returning the system to service.
