The L H Dottie Co WD8 is a size 8 zinc wall driller anchor designed for secure fastening into drywall and hollow wall surfaces. This self-drilling anchor eliminates the need for a pre-drilled pilot hole, allowing for faster installation in typical interior wall assemblies. The zinc construction provides corrosion resistance suitable for indoor applications. Electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, and general contractors use this type of anchor when mounting lightweight fixtures, brackets, junction boxes, or pipe supports to hollow wall surfaces where stud mounting is not possible or practical.
The WD8 is suited for residential and light commercial interior installations. It is commonly used when securing conduit straps, pipe hangers, thermostat bases, cover plates, and similar hardware to drywall or gypsum board walls. The self-drilling design makes it a practical choice for trade professionals who need a reliable hollow-wall fastening solution without additional drilling tools or hardware.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and general-use wall anchor for standard size 8 fastener applications in hollow wall and drywall installations.
Installation is typically performed by electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, or general contractors during interior finish or service work. Power down any nearby electrical circuits before working near wall cavities. Insert the anchor directly into drywall by driving it flush with a screwdriver or drill driver set to low torque, then drive the size 8 screw into the seated anchor. Do not overtighten, as excess torque can strip the anchor from the drywall.
