The L H Dottie 411 is a safety plate designed to protect electrical wiring, plumbing lines, and low-voltage cables from fastener penetration at framing members. Also known as a nail plate or stud guard, it mounts flush over notched or bored framing to shield wires and pipes that run within the standard 1.25-inch safety zone required by code. This pack includes 100 plates, making it well suited for new construction rough-in work or large renovation projects where multiple protection points are needed throughout a structure.
Safety plates of this type are standard on residential and light commercial framing jobs wherever electrical, plumbing, or low-voltage runs pass through studs, joists, or top and bottom plates. Electricians, plumbers, and general contractors install them during rough-in to maintain NEC and IPC clearance requirements before drywall goes up. The 100-unit pack quantity supports full-project installation without repeated restocking.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitment safety plate for residential and light commercial framing applications where wiring or piping passes within the protected zone of studs, joists, or plates.
Safety plates are installed by electricians, plumbers, or general contractors during the rough-in phase before insulation and drywall. De-energize all circuits and shut off water supply as applicable before working in the framing cavity. Plates are typically nailed or stapled flush over the notch or bore location. Always verify local code requirements for minimum plate thickness and placement under the applicable NEC or IPC edition.
