The KYOCERA TSP89034 is a cermet turning insert designed for precision metal removal in CNC and manual lathe operations. Manufactured to the TPG322 ISO geometry, this insert features a triangular shape with a 60-degree included angle, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. The base material is cermet with a TiCN and NbC coating applied over the substrate, delivering a combination of wear resistance and edge toughness suited for finishing and light to medium turning on steel workpieces. A neutral hand orientation and positive rake geometry allow compatibility with a wide range of toolholders and cutting conditions. Licensed HVAC techs and machinists working in precision environments will recognize this as a high-repeatability insert for controlled-depth passes.
This insert is rated for use on steel, with a primary workpiece material code of P and a material grade of P20. Suitable applications include external turning, facing, boring, and chamfering on steel components in both production and job-shop environments. The GPM series designation indicates fit within a defined family of KYOCERA toolholding systems. With three cutting edges per insert, tooling cost per edge is reduced in high-volume turning operations. The neutral hand configuration supports use on both right-hand and left-hand toolholder setups where the geometry permits.
Designed for use in TPG-style insert pockets within the KYOCERA GPM series. Clamp-style insert holding method with clearance code P and tolerance code G. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards for TPG322 geometry. Verify toolholder pocket specifications before installation.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine fully powered down and spindle locked. Use the appropriate clamp and torque wrench per the toolholder manufacturer's specifications for clamp-style TPG pockets. Inspect the insert pocket seat for chips or debris before seating a new insert. Never exceed the rated depth of cut or feed rate for the insert grade being used.
