The KYOCERA TSJ01956 is a cermet-grade turning insert in the TNGG431LC TN60 style, designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual lathe applications. Manufactured to ANSI and ISO standards, this triangular insert features a 60-degree included angle, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/64-inch (0.0156-inch) corner radius. The TN60 cermet grade with TiCN and NbC coating provides wear resistance and thermal stability during continuous cutting. With six available cutting edges and a honed cutting edge style, this insert delivers consistent performance on steel and stainless steel workpieces. It is installed using a clamp and pin holding method.
This insert is suited for a range of machining operations including external turning, facing, up facing, boring, chamfering, and copying. The left-hand orientation and negative rake angle (-14 degrees) make it appropriate for specific toolholder configurations in production and job shop environments. Primary application is steel (ISO material code P), with secondary suitability for stainless steel (ISO material code M). Material grades P01, P10, and P20 are applicable. This insert is identified by ISO code TNGG220404L-C and industry standard number TNGG431LCTN60.
This insert conforms to ANSI and ISO standards under ISO code TNGG220404L-C and is designed for use in toolholders that accept TNGG-style left-hand inserts with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and clamp or pin retention. Suitable for P01, P10, and P20 material grade applications on steel and stainless steel workpieces.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and all motion axes are locked before indexing or replacing the insert. Verify toolholder compatibility with TNGG431L-style left-hand inserts prior to installation. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque and seating procedures to ensure proper insert retention and runout control.
