The KYOCERA TSJ00305 is a cermet-grade indexable turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual turning applications. Manufactured to ANSI and ISO standards, this insert carries the CNMG432HQ geometry with a TN60 cermet substrate and a TiCN plus NbC coating classification listed as uncoated process. The 80-degree diamond shape with a negative rake angle of -15 degrees and a honed cutting edge provides stable engagement during facing, external turning, boring, chamfering, and internal facing operations. With 4 usable cutting edges per insert, it offers solid value per edge in high-volume production environments. Licensed HVAC, plumbing, and electrical trades are not the target here — this part is installed and managed by machining professionals and CNC operators.
This insert is suited for primary use on steel workpieces (ISO material code P) and secondary use on stainless steel (ISO material code M). Applicable material grades are P01, P10, and P20, covering a range from finish to medium turning cuts. The HQ chip breaker geometry is optimized for controlled chip evacuation in these materials. The insert fits standard CNMG-style toolholders and is held by clamp or pin methods. It is appropriate for both production turning cells and job shop environments requiring a reliable general-purpose cermet insert.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit insert for standard CNMG-style toolholders. ISO code CNMG120408HQ and industry standard number CNMG432HQTN60 can be used to cross-reference compatible toolholder systems. Insert holding method is clamp or pin.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamp hardware for the toolholder — do not overtighten by hand. Inspect the toolholder seat and clamp for wear or debris before seating the new insert.
