The KYOCERA TSJ00242 is a CCMT-style cermet turning insert designed for precision metal cutting operations in CNC and manual lathe applications. It carries the TN60 manufacturer grade and features a TiCN plus NbC coating classification listed as uncoated process, with an 80-degree diamond insert shape and a positive rake angle of 15 degrees. The insert measures 0.25 inches in length and 0.25 inches inscribed circle diameter, with an insert thickness of 0.0938 inches and a corner radius of 0.008 inches. The HQ chip breaker geometry and honed cutting edge style make this insert well suited for finishing and light roughing passes on steel workpieces. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install and index this insert as part of routine tooling maintenance.
This insert is intended for use in steel machining applications classified under material grade P01, P10, and P20. It supports multiple operations including boring, external turning, chamfering, facing, and internal facing. The CCMT insert style with screw holding method fits standard CCMT toolholders. With 2 cutting edges per insert and a maximum depth of cut of 0.0833 inches, it is best applied to finishing and semi-finishing passes where dimensional accuracy and surface finish are priorities. It meets both ANSI and ISO standards and carries ISO code CCMT060202HQ and industry standard number CCMT21505HQTN60.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for CCMT-style screw-on toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO CCMT insert standards. Compatible with toolholders accepting a 1/4-inch inscribed circle CCMT insert. Industry standard number CCMT21505HQTN60 can be used for cross-reference with equivalent toolholder specifications.
Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered down and spindle locked. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert screw per the toolholder manufacturer specifications when securing the screw-style clamp. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a fresh insert edge. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut rating for this insert geometry.
