The KYOCERA TSJ00220 is a CCGT-style cermet turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual lathe applications. It features an 80-degree diamond insert shape, a TN60 manufacturer grade, and a TiCN plus NbC coating classification applied through an uncoated process designation, making it well suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes on steel workpieces. The insert measures 0.375 inches in length, carries a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, and has a corner radius of 0.0156 inches (1/64 inch). With two cutting edges and a positive rake geometry, it delivers clean chip formation at light to moderate depths of cut. Installation is via screw-holding method per ISOI series standards.
This insert is intended for use in steel workpieces classified under material grade P01, P10, and P20. Typical applications include external turning, boring, facing, internal facing, and sub-spindle operations. The neutral hand orientation and CCGT geometry make it a versatile choice across a range of lathe setups. It conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards, with an ISO code of CCGT09T304 and an industry standard number of CCGT3251TN60. This insert is packaged individually but sold in multiples of 10.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitment insert for CCGT-style screw-on toolholders used in external turning, boring, facing, internal facing, and sub-spindle operations on steel workpieces. Compatible with toolholders conforming to ISOI series insert seating geometry.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine powered down and all spindle motion stopped before changing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to toolholder manufacturer specifications — do not overtighten, as this can chip the insert or damage the pocket. Inspect the toolholder pocket and shim for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Confirm insert orientation and cutting edge engagement before returning the machine to operation.
