The KYOCERA TMC08662 is a solid carbide turning insert in the WNMG432KG geometry, manufactured to ANSI and ISO standards under the CA310 grade. It carries a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN and Al2O3 for thermal resistance and wear performance during continuous and interrupted cuts. The insert features an 80-degree trigon shape with a neutral hand orientation, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch corner radius (0.0313 inches). The KG chip breaker geometry and chamfered-and-honed cutting edge style are optimized for cast iron machining. Machinists and CNC operators working in production turning environments install this insert in compatible toolholders for external turning, boring, facing, internal facing, and chamfering operations.
This insert is intended primarily for cast iron workpiece materials, corresponding to ISO material grade classifications K01, K10, and K20. Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC toolroom technician. Before changing inserts, the machine spindle must be fully stopped and locked out per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket before engaging the clamp or pin to avoid micro-movement under cutting load. Inspect the pocket and clamp for wear or debris before installing a new edge, as pocket damage directly affects insert seating and dimensional accuracy.
