The KYOCERA TLC06401 is a replaceable drill tip designed for use with DRA-series indexable drill bodies. It features a 0.63-inch (16.00 mm) cutting diameter and a 140-degree included point angle, providing a standard geometry suited for through-hole and blind-hole drilling operations. The tip is manufactured from solid carbide and coated with KYOCERA MEGACOAT NANO via a PVD process, which improves wear resistance and edge retention during high-speed drilling. The M-GM insert geometry and regular helical flute design support chip evacuation in interrupted and continuous cuts. This tip is secured to the drill body with a screw-type insert holding method. It is intended for installation by machining professionals and toolroom technicians.
This replaceable drill tip is suited for drilling operations on steel and stainless steel as primary workpiece materials, and cast iron as a secondary workpiece material, corresponding to ISO material groups P10, P20, P30, M15, M25, M35, and K. It fits insert seat size 160 within the DRA series drill system. The tip carries ISO designation DA1600M-GM and is compatible with DRA-series drill bodies that accept that seat size. Coolant-through capability is not supported by this tip. Typical applications include production drilling in metalworking, tool and die, and general machining environments.
Designed for use with KYOCERA DRA-series indexable drill bodies accepting insert seat size 160, per ISO designation DA1600M-GM. Compatible workpiece materials include steel and stainless steel (P and M groups) as primary materials, and cast iron (K group) as a secondary material.
Replaceable drill tips of this type are installed and indexed by machining technicians familiar with indexable tooling systems. Before tip replacement, ensure the drill body is removed from the spindle and the machine is in a locked-out, de-energized state per applicable machine guarding and lockout/tagout procedures. Use the manufacturer-specified torque driver or wrench for the screw clamp to avoid under- or over-tightening, and inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before seating the new tip. Do not force the tip into the seat; proper seating should require only light hand pressure before final screw engagement.
