The KYOCERA TLC06236 is a replaceable carbide drill tip designed for use with DRA-series indexable drill bodies. It features a 0.5000-inch (12.70 mm) cutting diameter and a 140-degree included point angle, which promotes stable entry and reduces thrust force on the workpiece. The tip is manufactured from solid carbide in grade PR1535 and finished with a PVD-applied MEGACOAT NANO coating. This coating improves wear resistance and thermal stability during high-feed drilling operations. The screw-held insert design allows fast tip changes without removing the drill body from the spindle, reducing downtime in production environments. Installation is performed by machinists and CNC operators in machining and fabrication shops.
This drill tip is suited for drilling steel and stainless steel as primary workpiece materials, classified under ISO material groups P and M. Cast iron is listed as a secondary workpiece material (group K). It fits insert seat size 125 within the DRA series drill body platform. Typical applications include through-hole and blind-hole drilling in general machining, aerospace component work, and structural fabrication. The helical flute geometry supports chip evacuation in deeper holes. Coolant-through capability is not supported by this tip.
Designed for use with DRA-series indexable drill bodies accepting insert seat size 125. ISO drill tip designation DA1270M-GM. Compatible primary workpiece materials are steel and stainless steel; secondary workpiece material is cast iron.
This replaceable tip is installed and indexed by a machinist or CNC operator. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before removing or seating the tip. Use the appropriate torx or hex key as specified for the DRA-series body screw to avoid stripping the retention screw. Do not exceed the recommended feed and speed parameters for the PR1535 grade when transitioning between workpiece materials.
