The KYOCERA TLC05054 is a solid carbide milling insert conforming to ISO code PNMU1205ANER-SM and manufactured in grade PR1535. This pentagonal, double-sided insert features a MEGACOAT NANO PVD coating applied over a negative-rake geometry with a honed cutting edge style. It carries 10 cutting edges and uses a screw-clamp holding method. Designed for demanding milling applications, it targets stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium as primary workpiece materials. Installation and tool changes are performed by machinists and CNC operators working with compatible MFPNR-series cutter bodies.
This insert is suited for milling operations on stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, steel, and cast iron in both production and job-shop environments. Its ANER-SM chip breaker geometry is optimized for medium-duty cuts in difficult-to-machine materials where edge stability and thermal resistance are critical. The double-sided configuration maximizes cost-per-edge efficiency in high-volume applications. The insert fits into the MFPNR cutter body series and is indexed by hand for right-hand cutting orientation.
Designed for use with MFPNR-series milling cutter bodies. Primary workpiece material compatibility includes stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium (ISO material codes M and S). Secondary workpiece material compatibility includes steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and superalloys (ISO material codes P, M, K, and S).
Insert replacement is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians following standard lockout and spindle-stop procedures before entering the machine work zone. Use the appropriate torx or hex key driver specified by the cutter body manufacturer to seat the clamping screw to the correct engagement without cross-threading. Inspect the insert pocket for chips, debris, or deformation before seating a new insert. Verify right-hand cutting orientation and confirm the insert is fully seated before resuming operation.
