The KYOCERA TKC89003 is a solid carbide indexable drill insert engineered for use in indexable drill bodies and coremaster coredrill tooling systems. Carrying the WCMX06M1A insert style and manufactured to grade PR1230 with a PVD coating process, this insert delivers controlled cutting performance in steel and other P-category workpiece materials. The trigon (80-degree included angle) geometry combined with a positive rake and M1A chipbreaker promotes efficient chip evacuation during hole-making operations. With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and 5/32-inch thickness, this insert fits standard WCMX06 pocket seats. Licensed machinists and CNC toolroom technicians are the primary installers.
This insert is designed for use in the Kyocera Holeshot Drill and Coremaster Coredrill series tooling systems. Its primary application is drilling in steel workpieces (ISO material code P) in production machining environments including job shops, aerospace manufacturing, and general metalworking. The right-hand cutting direction suits conventional CNC lathe and machining center spindle rotation. The M1A chipbreaker geometry is optimized for maintaining chip control at moderate feed and speed ranges typical in through-hole and blind-hole drilling operations on steel.
Designed for use with the Kyocera Holeshot Drill and Coremaster Coredrill series indexable drill bodies accepting WCMX06 insert pocket geometry. ANSI code WCMX06T308M1A PR1230; ISO code WCMX06T308M1A.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key specified by the drill body manufacturer to achieve proper clamping torque — do not overtighten, as this can crack the carbide insert. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or damage before installing a new insert.
