The KYOCERA TKC09302 is a solid carbide indexable drill insert designed for precision drilling operations in demanding machining environments. Manufactured to ANSI and ISO standards under the WCMT06T308 designation, this trigon-shaped insert features an 80-degree included angle and a positive rake geometry that reduces cutting forces and heat generation at the cutting zone. The PR1230 grade uses a PVD-applied MEGACOAT finish over a solid carbide substrate, delivering wear resistance and edge stability in high-productivity drilling applications. Three usable cutting edges per insert extend service life and reduce per-edge tooling cost. Thickness is 0.1563 inches with an inscribed circle of 0.3752 inches (9.53 mm).
This insert is suited for right-hand drilling operations on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and turning centers equipped with indexable drill toolholders in the OTMD series. Primary target workpiece materials are steel and stainless steel, making it a practical choice for job shops, production machining facilities, and maintenance shops running ferrous components. The insert fits holders designed for the WCMT 06 insert size class and is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for use with indexable drill toolholders in the OTMD series that accept WCMT 06 insert size class. Compatible primary workpiece material is steel (ISO material code P); compatible secondary workpiece material is stainless steel (ISO material code M).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Use the appropriate torx or clamp screw driver specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the insert; do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and susceptible to fracture under excessive clamping force. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping components for damage or chips before each indexing cycle.
