The KYOCERA TCV01208 is a ceramic turning insert designed for high-wear-resistance machining of cast iron and other hard materials. Carrying grade designation PT600M, this insert uses an Al2O3 and TiC ceramic composition applied via PVD coating process under the Megacoat series. The insert follows an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a neutral hand orientation, a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. It provides four usable cutting edges and is held in place by a clamp-style toolholder. Relief angle is zero degrees with a negative rake and negative side clearance geometry. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists install this insert in external turning and facing operations.
This insert is suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes on cast iron and other hard workpiece materials classified under ISO K grades, specifically K01 and K10. Its chamfered cutting edge style improves edge stability at the contact zone during high-speed turning. The CNG432 ANSI size code and CNG120408 ISO size code make it straightforward to cross-reference against toolholder seat specifications. Typical applications include external diameter turning and facing on CNC lathes and turning centers where long tool life on abrasive or hard materials is the priority. The part is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 pieces.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit insert for CNG-style clamp toolholders accepting ANSI size code 432 or ISO size code 120408 seats. Industry standard number CNG432T00825PT600M may be used for cross-reference. Suitable for external turning and facing operations on cast iron and hard material workpieces classified under ISO material grades K01 and K10.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Ensure the toolholder pocket and clamp surfaces are clean and free of chips before placing the insert to maintain accurate seating. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut specification for this insert geometry, and consult the toolholder manufacturer's torque specification for the clamping screw.
