The KYOCERA TCS61250 is a triangular ceramic turning insert designed for high-speed machining of hard materials. Manufactured to ANSI and ISO standards, this insert uses an aluminum oxide (Al2O3) and titanium carbide/titanium nitride (TiC/TiN) ceramic substrate applied via PVD coating, delivering thermal resistance and edge stability at elevated cutting temperatures. The insert carries grade designation A66N and is suited for finish and semi-finish turning operations. It features a neutral hand orientation and a positive rake geometry, making it a practical choice for CNC lathe toolholders in job shops and production environments. Installation and tool management are typically handled by machinists and CNC operators.
This insert is used in external turning, boring, chamfering, and facing operations on hard workpiece materials (ISO material code H), including hardened steels and hard cast materials. The TPG-style insert seats into a screw-clamp toolholder using the ISOI series configuration. With three cutting edges per insert, it offers multiple index positions before replacement, reducing per-edge tooling cost in high-volume production runs. It is applicable in both light and moderate depth-of-cut scenarios, with a maximum depth of cut of 0.2167 inches.
Designed for use in TPG-style screw-clamp toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO standards. Industry standard insert designation is TPG322T00320 A66N; ISO code TPGN160308T00820. Compatible toolholders must accept a triangular insert with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle, 1/8 inch thickness, and 11-degree relief angle (clearance code P, tolerance code G).
Insert replacement and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked. Use the correct torx or hex key for the clamping screw torque per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for chips or debris before seating a new insert. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut for the workpiece material grade.
