Product Description

The KYOCERA TCS61090 is an 80-degree trigon ceramic turning insert designed for machining hard materials in demanding production environments. Manufactured to WNGA insert style with a neutral hand orientation, it carries an A66N grade designation and features an aluminum oxide (Al2O3), titanium carbide, and titanium nitride PVD coating for extended tool life at elevated cutting temperatures. The insert measures 8 mm (0.684 inches) in length with a 1/2-inch inscribed circle and a 1/32-inch corner radius, delivering precise geometry for finishing and semi-finishing operations. With 6 cutting edges per insert, it offers strong value per edge in high-volume turning applications.

This insert is suited for external turning, boring, facing, internal facing, and chamfering operations on hard and difficult-to-machine workpiece materials classified under ISO material grade H01 and H10. It performs in both ANSI and ISO toolholding systems conforming to series ISOI. The maximum depth of cut reaches 0.228 inches, making it applicable to light roughing through finishing passes on hardened steels and similarly hard substrates. It is intended for use by machinists and CNC operators in production shop environments.

Key Features

  • Al2O3, TiC, and TiN PVD coating for thermal resistance and wear protection on hard materials
  • 6 cutting edges per insert maximizing cost-per-edge efficiency
  • 80-degree trigon (WNGA) geometry with neutral rake for versatile toolpath compatibility
  • Maximum depth of cut of 0.228 inches suitable for light roughing through finishing
  • Clamp and pin insert holding method for secure, repeatable seating
  • Conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards for broad toolholder compatibility

Compatibility

Designed for use in WNGA-style toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO series ISOI standards. Compatible with applications involving hard workpiece materials (ISO code H), including boring, external turning, chamfering, facing, and internal facing operations. ISO code: WNGA080408S01525. Industry standard number: WNGA432T00625AAA66N.

Installation Notes

Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer's torque and clamping specifications. Power down and lock out the spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Verify the insert pocket is free of chips, debris, and burrs before seating to ensure proper contact and prevent premature edge failure. Use the correct clamp and pin hardware specified for WNGA-style pockets to maintain secure holding during interrupted or continuous cuts.
