The KYOCERA TCS00250 is a ceramic turning insert designed for precision metal cutting operations in CNC turning centers and manual lathes. This square-shaped insert features an Al2O3/TiC PVD coating and a chamfered cutting edge style, making it well-suited for machining hard materials. With 8 usable cutting edges, a 1/2 inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32 inch corner radius, the TCS00250 delivers consistent performance across high-speed finishing and light roughing passes. It carries a negative rake geometry and is held in place via a clamp-style toolholder. Grade A66N targets ISO material group H workpieces, including hardened steels and hard irons.
This insert is used in external turning, facing, boring, and chamfering applications where hard material machining is required. It is rated for primary workpiece material code H, covering hardened and hard-to-machine ferrous materials. Typical installations include production turning on CNC lathes and turning centers in job shops, aerospace, automotive, and toolroom environments. The insert follows ANSI and ISO standards and corresponds to ISO code SNGN120708S01525, making it compatible with standard SNG-style toolholders worldwide.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement for standard SNG-series clamp-style turning toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO specifications. Industry standard number SNG452T00625AAA66N and ISO code SNGN120708S01525 can be used to cross-reference compatible toolholder systems.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or indexing the insert. Use the appropriate clamp screw torque per the toolholder manufacturer specification and verify the insert is fully seated in the pocket before resuming cuts. Do not use inserts that show visible chipping, cracking, or coating delamination.
