The KYOCERA TCR89310 is a ceramic turning insert in a triangular (60-degree) shape, designed for precision metal cutting operations on difficult-to-machine materials. Manufactured to ISO/ANSI standard TPG432T00320, this insert carries a grade A65 ceramic substrate composed of Al2O3 and TiC, delivering the hardness and thermal resistance required for cutting cast iron and hard materials. The insert features a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, a 3/16-inch thickness, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. With three cutting edges and a positive rake geometry, it provides efficient chip formation and extended tool life in demanding turning applications. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling professionals use this insert in production environments where ceramic grades outperform carbide.
The TCR89310 is suited for external turning, facing, boring, and chamfering operations on cast iron and hard workpiece materials. It fits toolholders designed for the TPG insert style with a clamp holding method. The ISOI series designation places it within a standardized insert family, making it straightforward to match with compatible clamp-style toolholders used in CNC turning centers and manual lathes in both job shop and production settings.
Designed for use in clamp-style TPG insert toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO standards. Intended for machining cast iron and hard workpiece materials; material grades K01, K10, H01, and H10 apply. Multi-use tool rated for boring, chamfering, external turning, and facing applications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Verify the toolholder pocket and clamp are clean and free of chips before securing the insert. Always index to a fresh cutting edge rather than continuing on a worn edge to prevent workpiece damage and toolholder wear.
