The KYOCERA TCR01210 is a triangular ceramic turning insert designed for high-speed single-point machining of cast iron and hard materials. Built to TPG style with a neutral hand orientation, it features an aluminum oxide and titanium carbide ceramic substrate that delivers high hardness and thermal resistance at the cutting edge. The insert measures 11.00 mm (0.4334 inches) in length with a 1/4-inch (0.2500 inch) inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch (0.0156 inch) corner radius. It is sized to the ISO TPGN110304T00820 code and meets both ANSI and ISO standards. Licensed machinists and CNC lathe operators working with ferrous and hardened workpieces are the primary installers.
This insert is suited for turning operations on cast iron and hard materials where ceramic cutting tools outperform carbide in surface speed and wear resistance. Approved multi-use applications include external turning, boring, facing, and chamfering. The clamp-style holding method is compatible with standard TPG insert toolholders. With three usable cutting edges per insert, it is an efficient choice for high-production turning cells running K-grade and H-grade workpiece materials such as gray cast iron, ductile iron, and hardened steels.
Designed for use in standard TPG clamp-style insert toolholders. Primary workpiece material codes are K (cast iron) and H (hard material), including material grades K01, K10, H01, and H10. ISO insert code TPGN110304T00820 and industry standard number TPG221T00320A65 apply. Multi-use applications include external turning, boring, facing, and chamfering.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians. The machine spindle must be brought to a complete stop and all energy sources locked out before seating or indexing the insert. Use the appropriate clamp screw and torquing tool specified by the toolholder manufacturer. Ceramic inserts are brittle compared to carbide; avoid interrupted cuts, heavy feeds on entry, or impact loading unless the insert grade is specifically rated for interrupted cutting.
