The KYOCERA TCR00160 is a ceramic turning insert in the SNG square style, designed for high-efficiency material removal on cast iron and hard materials. It features a 1/2 inch inscribed circle, a 3/64 inch corner radius, and an Al2O3 plus TiC ceramic composition in an uncoated finish. The insert carries the A65 grade designation and is suited for finishing and semi-finishing operations where thermal resistance and edge stability are critical. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians use this insert in production turning, boring, and facing applications where conventional carbide struggles with abrasive or hardened workpieces.
This insert is rated for cast iron and hard material workpiece categories, covering ISO material grades K01, K10, H01, and H10. It supports four multi-use applications: boring, chamfering, external turning, and facing. The 90-degree included angle and negative rake geometry make it well matched to rigid setups where predictable edge life on interrupted or continuous cuts is a priority. The SNG style with clamp holding fits standard toolholders designed for that insert geometry and ISO size code SNGN120412T02025.
Designed for use in standard SNG-style clamp toolholders accepting a 1/2 inch inscribed circle square insert. ISO equivalent designation is SNGN120412T02025. Industry standard number is SNG433T00825A65. Compatible with ANSI and ISO standard tooling systems.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Verify that the toolholder clamp and seat are clean and free of chips before installing the insert, as contamination under the insert can cause premature edge failure or chatter. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and toolholder manufacturer guidelines for clamping torque and insert orientation.
