The KYOCERA TBR01105 is a single-tipped polycrystalline diamond (PCD) turning insert conforming to ANSI insert code CCMT21502 and ISO insert code CCMT060201. It features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape, a 0.25-inch inscribed circle, and a 0.004-inch corner radius. The insert carries grade KPD001, a super micrograin PCD grade engineered for high wear-resistance when cutting non-ferrous metals and superalloys. Relief angle is 7 degrees with a positive rake geometry and positive side clearance. The cutting edge is honed and the insert is supplied bright/uncoated. It is held in the toolholder via a screw-clamp method and is suitable for boring, external turning, chamfering, facing, and internal facing operations.
This insert is intended for precision turning applications on non-ferrous metals such as aluminum and its alloys, as well as special and super alloys. Its KPD001 grade provides a high wear-resistance to moderate wear-resistance and toughness profile across both material categories, making it well-suited to finishing and semi-finishing passes where surface quality and tool life are priorities. It is installed by machinists and tooling technicians in CNC lathes and turning centers, and is compatible with CCMT-style toolholders designed for the ISOI series. Neutral hand orientation allows flexible positioning in the toolholder.
Designed for use in CCMT-style screw-clamp toolholders within the ISOI series. Primary workpiece materials are non-ferrous metals and superalloys (ISO material codes N and S). No specific machine or toolholder model numbers were provided by the manufacturer for this SKU.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing the insert. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket before tightening the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque. Inspect the pocket and screw for wear or debris before installing a new insert, as contamination in the pocket can affect insert seating and cutting geometry.
